Playboi Carti took some of his rockstar antics overseas and now has to pay for it, literally and figuratively. The rapper has been found guilty of damaging a tour bus and laying hands on the driver.
Carti and his entourage were traveling from Glasgow to London on the bus when the heat stopped working. The bus driver stopped at Gretna Services to get the heat repaired, but once they stopped, the driver wasn’t able to get the bus started again. A replacement bus was sent with two drivers but didn’t have the same facilities as the original vehicle Carti paid $30K to use for three weeks.
One of the drivers, Alistair MacLeish, told BBC, “I saw things being thrown around the tour bus and then a man ran across and punched the driver on the face, cutting him and knocking his glasses off. It was the accused Carter who had been standing with a group, but as two guys tried to restrain him, he wriggled past them ran across and punched the driver who stumbled back. The driver did not do anything to him and did not retaliate.”
Carti’s managers said the rapper was acting in self-defense, claiming the German bus driver was “angry and agitated.”
For the outburst, Playboi Carti must pay a total of $1030.64 after he was convicted of assault and causing damage to luxury coach bus. The rapper will have to pay $644.15 for the assault and another $386.49 for breaking the bus window.
