The plumber who unearthed the massive treasure trove of cash while performing a job at Lakewood Church is upset that Joel Osteen hasn’t reached out to him.
The man, identified only as Justin, attended Sunday’s service, where Osteen preached an entire sermon without mentioning a word about the good deed of the plumber. The man says that he is disappointed in the pastor of the megachurch, considering that he’d located and returned funds linked to the building’s 2014 $600k robbery.
“I wanted to hear [Joel Osteen] say, ‘You know, Justin, what you did was right. We understand what you did and what you could have done,'” the plumber said after the service.
Justin previously recounted how he unearthed the money behind a loose toilet while performing repairs at the church. He says he immediately notified the maintenance supervisor of his findings. Authorities have confirmed that they’ve been able to link the checks found to those in the robbery. Osteen has remained tightlipped about Justin’s claims. Lakewood Church would only confirm that an “undisclosed amount of cash and checks were found.”
“I feel like, at this point, I should have heard something,” Justin added. “I’m just a little upset.”
When the theft investigation was initially launched in 2014, Crime Stoppers offered a $25,000 reward. However, Justin is no longer eligible for the money since the statute of limitation is up.
