The Portland Police Bureau is looking for Marquis Love, aka “Keese Love,” who was identified as the suspect in a Sunday night’s attack that saw a truck driver being pulled from a vehicle and violently beaten on video.
Officials said in a press release that they have made several attempts to reach 25-year-old Love but have been unsuccessful. They have said they have probable cause for his arrest.
“The Portland Police Bureau is taking this assault and other incidents of violence extremely seriously,” said Chief Chuck Lovell in a statement provided with the press release. “Our Detectives continue to investigate this assault as well as other acts of violence directed toward protestors, but we need more than just videos from social media. In order to hold individuals responsible for criminal acts, we need the public to provide information and refrain from tampering with evidence.”
On August 16, just before 10:30 p.m., Portland Police officers responded to a 911 caller who stated that “protestors chased a white Ford 4×4, which has crashed” at the intersection of Southwest Taylor Street and Broadway, the press release read. At that exact location, “protestors drug him out of [the] car.”

Another caller alleged that between 9-10 people attacked the victim.
When police arrived, they discovered the victim unconscious with injuries. He was then taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Following the incident, local police became aware of a recording of what led to the assault of the victim, circulating the internet.
“Investigators learned that the victim may have been trying to help a transgender female who had some of her things stolen in the area of Southwest Taylor and 4th Ave, the location where this incident began,” police said late Monday.
