A Florida man who used to work as a teacher and theme park employee has been convicted this month for trying to meet up with a child for sex.
Winter Springs, Fla. resident Dennis Lee Line, 51, could spend up to 10 years to life in federal prison for his attempt to have illegal sex with a child, which is considered statutory rape.
On Feb. 9, Line began communicating with who he thought was a 15-year-old girl. It was actually an undercover police officer. The two exchanged messages, with Lee being the first person to open up a conversation about sex. Line reportedly said he could teach the teen about sex and how to give oral.
The two set up a meetup in Orange County for when Line was about to clock out of his theme park job. However, authorities were waiting for him when he arrived. He’s set to appear for sentencing on Nov. 2. His arrest and the investigation were a collaborative effort between the Orlando Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Fox News reports.
