A 22-year-old man entered an Atlanta Publix on Wednesday armed with five guns and wearing body armor just two days after a shooting in a Colorado grocery store left ten people dead.
A witness told Local 10 that the man, identified as Rico Marley, entered the grocery store openly carrying a rifle and walked into the restroom. A witness alerted the store’s management, who called the police. Police officers arrived and were able to detain the suspect as he exited the bathroom.
While they had him detained, officers found two long guns and three pistols.
According to the outlet, fire rescue arrived on the scene to evaluate the man’s mental health.
Marley was charged with reckless conduct, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
“We are cooperating with local law enforcement on an incident that occurred earlier today in our Atlantic Station store,” spokeswoman Nicole Krauss said in a statement on behalf of Publix. “We are thankful that there were no injuries, and all were able to exit the store safely. The store is currently closed.”
