Kentucky Man Who Led Police On Wild Car Chase Arrested After Running Out of Gas

Kentucky Man Who Led Police On Wild Car Chase at 143 MPH, Arrested

A Kentucky man led police on a wild car chase after his bright yellow Ford Mustang was clocked at 143 mph.

Steven Alford, 47, of Roundhill, Kentucky, was spotted speeding eastbound on Bluegrass Parkway in a 70 mph zone around 12:58 p.m. on Saturday. The police chase ended when it did because the suspect ran out of gas. Alford’s car stalled, forcing him to pull over. The drama did not end there, as he refused to get out of his car.

Nelson’s Sheriff’s office said in a statement on social media, ā€œThe driver pulled over at the 30 Mile Markers after a lengthy pursuit due to running out of gas.”Ā  Once Alford had stopped, he barricaded himself briefly within the car, causing him to be forcibly removed by the Office of the Nelson County Sheriff and the Kentucky State Police.

Alford was charged with speeding and taken to Nelson County Jail. He then was charged with reckless driving, fleeing or evading police, four counts of wanton endangerment, operating on a suspended or revoked license, improper passing, resisting arrest, license plate not eligible, and speeding under unsafe conditions.
