Eliza Fletcher, the heiress who was abducted during a morning run four days ago, has been recognized by Tennessee authorities as the body discovered discarded in Memphis.
On Tuesday morning, Memphis police tweeted, “The deceased victim that was located yesterday in the 1600 block of Victor has been identified as 34-year-old Eliza Fletcher.”
The suspect, Cleotha Abston, was given additional charges of first-degree murder and first-degree murder in perpetration of kidnapping.
Police discovered the body of the mother of two on Monday at 5:07 pm.
After being arrested on Saturday, authorities said Abston, who had already served 20 years in prison for a brutal kidnapping, had refused to say where Fletcher was.
According to police, Fletcher’s body was found near a spot where Abston was allegedly seen cleaning out his GMC Terrain that was captured on camera on Friday.
Court documents said that the defendant’s brother, charged with separate gun and drug offenses, described Abston as behaving “strange” and cleaning his clothes hours after the kidnapping.
Police released images of Fletcher during her morning run through an area around the University of Memphis.
According to reports, those familiar with Abston described him as a “creep” and “pervert” who constantly tried to pay women for sex.
