Police officers in #SantaClara have given the #SanFrancisco49ers an ultimatum. Either #ColinKaepernick stops protesting, or they stop working the games.
NBC Bay Area obtained a letter from the police union stating that if the #Niners didn’t take some type of action against #Kaepernick it would result in “police officers choosing not to work at your facilities.”
“Unfortunately, some recent actions by a 49ers employee have threatened our harmonious working relationship,” the letter read. “Prior to the start of the pre-season 49er football game on-duty 49er employee made the decision to exercise his right of free expression and not stand to honor the national anthem. Following the game your employee explained that his actions we’re an attempt to get public attention to oppression of African Americans and minorities in the US by police officers. Your employee then insinuated that officers are being placed on paid leave for murdering minorities. This statement is obviously insulting, inaccurate, and unsupported by any facts.”
The letter went on to state that Kaepernick has insulted the entire American police force with his statements on police brutality. “Your employee further insulted all law enforcement officers in America by stating “there is police brutality. People of color have been targeted by police.”
The letter reveals that the PD also takes offense to a pair of socks Kaepernick recently wore, which features cartoon pigs with police hats on.
According to the SAPD, Kaepernick’s criticisms are “unjustified and insulting attacks” on their officers who have “worked thousands of hours” at 49ers games. “The board of directors of the Santa Clara Police Officer’s Association has a duty to protect its members and work to make all of their workings environments free of harassing behavior.”
“The 49ers are allowing this to come out from an employee and it’s making for a hostile work environment for us at the stadium,” Frank Saunders, president of the Santa Clara Police Officers Association, said. “I’m already hearing it this week that next week on Monday Night Football, some officers are not going to work.”
What it appears to me is that the Santa Clara police officers do not appreciate Colin Kaepernick opposing their right to brutally kill unarmed citizens.
