Fans of Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant were concerned about a mysterious post he shared to social media on Wednesday, in which he said, “Bye.”
The series of story posts read: “Love ya ma. Love ya pop. You da greatest baby girl love ya. Bye.”
The post has since been deleted from Morant’s Instagram account. But, it has also gone viral and, in turn, encouraged officers to do a welfare check on the NBA star’s home.
According to TMZ, Shelby County Sheriff’s office officials went to the baller’s home on Wednesday, shortly after the posts. But as it turns out, Morant was just saying bye to social media, as he revealed to the officers that “he is taking a break from social media.”
“He is fine,” a spokesperson with the Sheriff’s office told TMZ.
In response to the post, Shannon Sharpe said, “It’s looking like he wants to do other things other than play basketball. I don’t think the NBA is gonna allow you to be a part-time thug & a part-time NBA player… Ja needs some guidance.”
Just last week, the Memphis Grizzlies player was suspended after a second video surfaced of him flashing a gun, so it appears a social media break may be well deserved.
