The two-week long search for 29-year-old, Paighton Houston came to an end Friday morning after police discovered her body in a “shallow grave in Hueytown” in the backyard of an abandoned home, according to People Magazine.
On Dec. 20, Houston, of Trussville, left Tin Roof bar in Birmingham with two unfamiliar men. Prior to leaving the bar, Houston texted a friend, “Idk who I’m with so if I call please answer. I feel in trouble,” The Trussville Tribune reported.
Bessemer Cutoff District Attorney Lynniece Washington told Alabama.com that police discovered the body wrapped in an unidentified fabric.
There were two awards totaling to $10,000 being offered to anyone with information on Houston’s disappearance.
Before the body was discovered, Charlaine, mother of the victim, shared a story to her Facebook page of the Hueytown investigation. “Bring Paighton home,” she captioned the post.
Houston’s cause of death has not been made public.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s department is taking the lead on the investigation. To date, there have been no updates on when or whom Houston left the bar with.
