The bodies of two children found in a suitcase have been identified.
Two weeks ago, authorities in New Zealand discovered the remains of two children inside a trailer that a family purchased at an auction for abandoned goods, CBS News reports. The suitcase was found near Auckland.
The bodies belonged to children who were between the ages of 5 and 10 years old, and they are believed to be related to a woman who moved to South Korea in 2018 and who used to live in New Zealand for an unknown amount of time. She was reportedly contacted by police in Seoul, South Korea, on Monday.
Her old New Zealand address was registered to a storage unit where the cases stayed for at least three to four years.
Police tried to find out what led to the children’s deaths through CCTV footage. However, significant moments may have been disposed of already because of the length of time between when the children died and when they were placed in the suitcases. Forensic experts have examined the cases, CBS News reports.
