You have to be a sick individual to attempt to feed someone a sh*t sandwich, especially a homeless person. You have to be the highest level of f*cked up to be an officer of the law and attempt to do so.
Officer Mattthew Luckhurst, a 5-year veteran of the San Antonio Police Department in San Antonio, TX has been fired for allegedly attempting to feed a homeless person a fecal matter sandwich. According to reports, the officer allegedly placed fecal matter in between two slices of bread and gave it to a homeless person.
The incident reportedly occurred in May. Luckhurst bragged to a fellow officer that“he had picked up some feces, placed it in a slice of bread, and put it in a Styrofoam container next to the unknown homeless male.”
“The officer reported that he told Luckhurst to go back and throw it away. The officer said he saw Luckhurst go back and he assumed that Luckhurst discarded the container,” read a press release from the police chief’s office.
The incident was reported to Internal Affairs in July although investigators have been unable to locate the homeless man.
Luckhurst’s attorney said that his client joked about giving a sh*t sandwich to a homeless man, but never actually did so. He says the joke spiraled out of control and lead to the unfair persecution of his client.
The City Council was briefed on the matter during a private session Thursday, after getting word that a news outlet was working on a story about the incident.
“I think it’s horrible that people would prey on very vulnerable populations,” said council woman Shirley Gonzales. “It really is just so disappointing that one of our officers would prey on vulnerable populations. We are always working on behalf of those homeless people and Haven for Hope is still a place to go for any homeless person who needs resources.”
“Firing this officer was the right thing to do,” Mayor Ivy Taylor said in a statement to the San Antonio Express-News. “His actions were a betrayal of every value we have in our community, and he is not representative of our great police force.”
Lackhurst declined to comment.
