Police Questioning Nanny Employed by Afrobeats Star Davido Following the Death of His 3-Year-Old Son

Earlier this week, it was reported that the son of afrobeats star Davido died just days after turning three years old. It’s now been revealed that police are questioning a nanny employed by the singer following the incident.

Benjamin Hundeyin, a Lagos police spokesperson, confirmed that eight members of the singerā€™s domestic staff had been taken in for questioning. Six of those staff members have been released due to having no direct bearing with the incident.

Though it is unconfirmed, the three-year-old appears to have drowned in the pool of the star’s home in the upmarket Lago neighborhood on Banana Island, according to police.

ā€œIt appears to be drowning but we need to conduct our investigation to ascertain that,ā€ Hundeyin said.

Hundeyin told the Nigerian newspaper Daily Post that an investigation into the incident had already begun and anyone found culpable would be “placed under arrest.”

Officers have not yet reviewed CCTV footage from the scene. ā€œWhen we get to that we will review them,ā€ he said. ā€œFor now, we havenā€™t done that. The investigation is systematic ā€“ step by step.ā€ Hundeyin also added that the police have ā€ been in touch with his parents from day one.ā€

Representatives for Davido did not respond to a request for comment from Baller Alert. We’ll keep this story updated as it continues.
