The “Trump Train” has made another stop where issues ensued, this time in Richmond, Virginia.
The Richmond Police Department said in a statement on Sunday that the mobile political rally began in Henrico County and made its way to Lee Circle in Richmond. A statue of Robert E. Lee is located in the middle of the intersection.
The rally turned confrontational between Trump supporters and opposing protesters. Police report cars were seen leaving the roadway and driving over grassy medians.
Police were called when a female was pepper-sprayed in the face by someone in a vehicle. The assailant was unknown to the victim. Moments earlier, officers were notified of reports of an unoccupied vehicle being struck by gunfire. Once the area was cleared, officers were able to attend to the assault victim.
As a result of the protest, roadways were closed to traffic, and officers remained present to monitor the area.
In the statement, police asked anyone with information about injuries or photos and videos of the incident to reach out.
