Police are actively searching for the traveler accused of accidentally discharging a gun at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta Saturday. The incident caused chaos at the airport, prompting an evacuation and temporarily grounding flights.
Kenny Wells, 41, ran away from the screening checkpoint with the gun, according to police. He is now wanted on warrants for carrying a concealed weapon at a commercial airport, discharging a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and reckless conduct.
“We are actively pursuing this individual,” said Atlanta Police Department Airport Precinct Commander Reginald L.Moorman.
Three people were injured during the incident, but none were related to the gunfire. All three suffered non-life-threatening injuries while the airport was being evacuated. Two of the injured parties were taken to the hospital for evaluation.
The all-clear was given around 3:30 p.m., about two hours after the ordeal started, and airport operations returned to normal.
