America was shocked on December 30, 2018, when 7-year-old Jazmine Barnes was fatally shot in the head, while out with her mother and sisters. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
LaPorsha Washington, Jazmine’s mother, who was also shot in the arm, claimed a gunman drove up in a red, four-door pickup truck and opened fire on her car.
According to NBC News, Harris County deputies said in a tweet that the investigation has taken a new direction and detectives are in the process of interviewing persons of interest in connection with this case. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sources also told Houston’s ABC13 that one suspect is in custody, but the investigation is still ongoing with a second suspect still being sought. Sources also claim that the suspect in custody does not resemble the widely distributed sketch, previously released to the media.
Jazmine and her family were out shopping last Sunday near a Walmart
along the East Beltway and Wallisville, when a gunman opened fire on her family’s vehicle as they were headed to Joe V’s to get coffee.
After the shooting, one of Jazmine’s siblings discovered that Jazmine had been hit.
“She said ‘Momma, Jazmine’s not moving, she’s not talking.’ I turned around and my 7-year-old was shot in the head, “ Washington tearfully recalled.
Multiple news outlets are reporting that the police are very close to making an arrest.
