Popeyes is gearing up to bring its famous chicken to the U.K. by the end of 2021, in a move that will provide hundreds of jobs.
According to Bloomberg, Popeyes’ parent company, Famous Brands International, will franchise the eatery with Elias Diaz Sese, who is the co-founder of Popeyes U.K. and a non-executive director at Dominos Pizza. The deal is expected to provide hundreds with employment by establishing 350 U.K. restaurants over the next ten years.
“The U.K. is such an exciting market, and we think the authenticity of our brand and product is something customers here want to see. We think we will really benefit the communities we move into,” Sese said.
Popeyes is planning to offer home delivery and takeout in the U.K.
The arrival of the wildly popular Popeyes chicken sandwich in 2019 has made it an ideal chain to bring to the U.K. The highly sought-after entree has been sold over 200 million times since its introduction in the United States.
The first restaurant will likely be in London, though that has not yet been confirmed.
