Popeyes is making headlines again, but this time it’s for how trashy some of the employees have been treating the chicken sandwiches.
The Louisiana-style restaurant has issued a statement apologizing after photos of its employees preparing chicken sandwiches on top of trash cans surfaced. TMZ obtained the photos on Friday, which were taken at a Popeyes location in Fairfax, Va.
In the photo, you can see an employee compiling ingredients for the sandwiches on top of a tray that is resting on a large garbage can, which is in the view of customers waiting in line. The photos begged a lot of questions surrounding the location’s choice for food prep. The location’s manager pretty much said that was exactly the case, noting there wasn’t enough workroom, a lack of work staff and the sandwiches are just too high in demand.
The owner said that on that day specifically, the restaurant was bombarded with customers only a few days after it opened. The owner said that he immediately ordered another table after seeing his employees using the trash can, which he claimed was empty at the time of use.
The Popeyes chicken sandwich sensation has brought many shocking stories to headlines, and we’re sure this won’t be the last.
