A well-known Houston DJ has died after falling from a downtown high rise.

The incident occurred on the Fourth of July Monday at around 5:00 am at Camden Apartments on Austin Street.

23-year-old DJ DBaby was well known in the Houston area and country, spinning for several known celebrities.

Sadly, she died ten days after falling from the 13th-floor balcony onto the 9th-floor pool deck. Paramedics rushed her to the hospital, and she died there on July 13th.

Her father, Darrin Lewis, said, “She did things people that are 56 my age haven’t done.”

Social media users have made assumptions about the circumstances surrounding her fall, with some blaming her girlfriend, who was present when she fell.

However, according to her girlfriend’s Facebook post, she had nothing to do with the incident.
The post claims DJ DBaby had been drinking, stood on the balcony furniture, and lost her balance, falling before she could reach her.

Family members claim they won’t speculate or respond to any rumors.

Her father responded, “We’re going to trust the system and let them do their job.”

At this time, Houston police told FOX 26 that it seems to have been an unfortunate accident.

Family members say they’ve found comfort in the Facebook tributes people have posted on social media of DJ Dbaby, and they’d like everyone to focus on the legacy she is leaving behind.

Her mother, Terri Lewis, said, “I would just like to continue seeing some posts where they enjoyed being with her and around her.”

To all the people whose lives she touched over her 23 years on earth, her brother Chase Taylor delivered a message: “She was that life for you guys, so now it’s everyone else’s turn to be that life for us, so we can watch those videos and those moments that we didn’t see, so we can see it and smile and reminisce on how great of a person she was,” he said.
