Porsche has unveiled its new all-electric Macan EV ten years after the SUV made its debut.
The automotive company is setting itself apart with its electric SUV. The electric Macan is expected to play a significant role in Porsche’s transition to electric. Porsche’s new electric SUV is available in two variants: the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo. The Macan model marks Porsche’s second venture into electric vehicles, following the Taycan, and stands as the inaugural fully electric SUV to bear the iconic badge.
For car buffs around the world who value Porsche’s many capabilities, you’ll be happy to know the base Macan 4 features up to 381 mi (613 km) WLTP range and is powered by a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery. Despite sacrificing some range (361 miles/ 591 km WLTP), the Turbo version packs 630 hp and 833 lb-ft for a 0 to 62 mph sprint (0 – 100 km/h) in 3.3 seconds featuring a 100 kWh CATL-supplied battery, according to Automotive World.
“With the fully electric Macan, we aim to offer the sportiest model in its segment,” Jörg Kerner, head of the Macan series, declared about the latest innovation.Â
The electric Macan is integral to Porsche’s shift towards fully electric mobility, utilizing CATL batteries, a supplier also serving major brands like Tesla, Ford, and BMW. Priced at $78,800 for the Macan 4 and $105,300 for the Turbo, deliveries are set to commence in the second half of the year.
