Simon Guobadia, the estranged husband of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Porsha Williams, has been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
According to records from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security obtained by U.S. Weekly, Guobadia, 60, is currently being held at Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia. His status is listed as “in ICE custody.”
Guobadia, originally from Nigeria, first arrived in the U.S. in 1982 but allegedly overstayed his visa and was deemed deportable by 1985, per WSB-TV 2. After returning in 1986, he again overstayed his work visa. In 1987, he was arrested and pleaded guilty to bank and credit card fraud. He was deported in 1992 but returned a month later.
In 2016, Guobadia applied for naturalization, but his request was denied. In February 2024, Atlanta Black Star reported he had been repeatedly denied U.S. residency.
Williams, 43, filed for divorce after 15 months of marriage. In November 2024, she was granted “temporary, sole and exclusive possession” of their Georgia home, allowing her to continue filming “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” On Friday, she spoke out about his detention, stating, “It’s disheartening to see my estranged husband make choices that have led to his outcome.”
Despite signing a prenuptial agreement, their divorce remains ongoing. However, with his current incarceration, it’s unclear what will happen moving forward.
