Social Media In Shambles Over Porsha Williams & Simon Guobadia’s Divorce — Relationship Timeline Explained

Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia’s marriage ended abruptly after a mere 15 months, causing a stir on social media. This news coincides with changes in the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” universe, where Kandi Burruss recently announced her departure from the series after 14 seasons to pursue other ventures. Subsequently, it was revealed that Williams would be making a return to the show, having left in 2021 around the beginning of her relationship with the entrepreneur.

Despite the excitement surrounding Williams’ return, the spotlight soon shifted to Guobadia’s personal challenges. Online court documents surfaced, revealing his prolonged immigration case, which posed the threat of deportation. To add to the unfolding drama, it was then shockingly disclosed that Williams had filed for divorce.

2020: Porsha Williams first crossed paths with Simon Guobadia while filming Season 13 of “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” At the time, she was introduced to him as the husband of Falynn Pina, who came onto the series as a friend of Williams, though she would later argue that the two were not close despite what viewers saw on the show. 

2021: Guobadia and Pina parted ways in April 2021, calling it a “mutual decision.” However, just one month later, in May 2021, Williams and the businessman shocked the world when they revealed they were engaged after just a month of dating. Announcing the engagement on Instagram, Guobadia wrote, “I asked her to marry me because we checked ALL of each other’s boxes, and then some.”

Despite Pina alluding to the two messing around while she and Guobadia were still a couple, they have refuted this. Instead, Williams maintains that they bonded over an Instagram message after he split from Pina, where she expressed her well-wishes during his transitional period. Williams and Guobadia’s relationship was fully displayed in Williams’ limited series, “Porsha’s Famly Matters,” which aired on November 28th, 2021. The show showed how Williams was able to blend her family with Guobadia, ex-fiance Dennis McKinley, and their daughter, Pilar. 

2022: Guobadia and Williams tied the knot in a double November 2022 wedding celebration. The first one took place on November 26th and was a traditional Nigerian ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta with 250 guests present. The next day, they held an American-style ceremony at an Atlanta church with about 350 guests. They officially took their honeymoon in Malta, beginning towards the end of January 2023 and concluding in early February 2023, documenting part of their getaway on Instagram and, as always, appearing happy in love.

2023: In November 2023, the couple celebrated their first wedding anniversary with another lavish trip to Dubai. “Real Housewives of Atlanta” alum Nene Leakes and Cynthia Bailey joined the couple for the festive occasion. “Real Housewives of Dubai” stars Chanel Iman and Lesa Milan were also in attendance.

2024: As 2024 rolled in, the couple continued to showcase their lives together on Instagram. On February 17th, 2024, Williams posted a video of her enjoying some fun at the beach alongside her husband in Dubai. In the caption, the hair entrepreneur wrote “#BeHisPeace.” Sadly, just days later, on February 23rd, Williams and her team confirmed to People that she’d filed for divorce from Guobadia.
