Pras confirms that he will be present for the Fugees reunion run but says he wasn’t aware that the tour was happening.
On Friday, TMZ caught up with the rapper, initially questioning his emotions regarding being perceived as highly impactful even after all these years.
“I guess we’re blessed,” he said, referring to himself and his former bandmates.
However, when questioned about the upcoming tour, Pras revealed that he didn’t learn about the event until “last week.”
“I didn’t even know the tour was happening, to be honest with you,” he added. “I don’t know. But I heard about it through the media. I’m going, obviously, but I just heard about it last week.”
Not long after the article was published, Pras’ publicist Erica Dumas issued a statement that refuted the claims about the Fugees tour being an unexpected surprise.
“Contrary to TMZ, Pras Michel was well aware of the upcoming Fugees reunion tour,” she wrote. “He, Lauryn, and Wyclef have been in communication about this tour since early summer. As this is Ms. Hill’s tour, Pras respectfully deferred any public comment until her team was prepared to make the official announcement. He is thrilled to be reuniting with his Fugees partners and looks forward to celebrating their music with fans across the globe. Any reports claiming Pras was unaware of the tour are patently false.”
Outside of music, Pras was convicted on 10 charges including witness tampering and conspiracy to defraud the U.S. on April 26th. These convictions could result in a maximum prison sentence of 20 years. A specific date for his sentencing is yet to be determined. Despite the conviction, Pras remains steadfast on his innocence.
