Police in Chicago are searching for two men who were seen on surveillance video gunning down a parked car.
Inside the vehicle was well-known Chicago hairstylist Derricka Patrick, 29, a mother who was expecting her second child in July.
On Wednesday, the expectant mother arrived at her Englewood home in the 7400 block of South Vincennes Ave. at 7 p.m.
According to reports, her 15-year-old niece, who ran inside Patrick’s home to grab a cake, found her slumped at the wheel.
According to Chicago police, video footage shows a car pulling up alongside Patrick’s, two individuals exiting, and shooting into her vehicle.
Patrick and her unborn child were rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where they were both pronounced dead.
The video has yet to be released to the public.
“We have some video evidence that supports that two individuals did this and we need them identified. We haven’t pushed out any videos yet of those suspects. But we definitely need some help from the community,” Chicago police said.
“My baby didn’t deserve this. She didn’t do nothing to nobody. For somebody to come and snuff her out and take her life like that, I’m just upset about it. I don’t appreciate it” said Patrick’s mother, Christine Blanton.
