Pregnant Wisconsin Bus Driver Saves The Lives Of A Group Of Students After Their School Bus Burst Into Flames [Video]

A pregnant Wisconsin bus driver safely evacuates students from a school bus moments before it goes up into flames.

Last week, Imunek Williams put her life on the line to save a group of children. After two hours of driving the students, whose ages ranged from kindergartners to high schoolers, Williams detected a burning odor along the usual route.

Initially, she believed the source of the smell was another car, but as she continued driving, she noticed the scent and smoke growing more intense.

“I just told the kids, ‘let’s get off,’” Williams said. “I evacuated the bus, made sure everyone was off, and made them line up against a gate. And as soon as we stepped off the bus, I turned around and the bus was just — in flames.”

She added, “I couldn’t barely get what I was trying to say out because of the smoke was hitting me in the face in my eyes, so I was just like OK forget the radio. Just got the kids off the bus. I think that’s when it was like my mommy instincts kicked in really fast and I was just like OK come on mom let’s do it, let’s get off the bus.”

Nevertheless, Williams was eventually transported to the hospital for a medical evaluation of her health and the well-being of her unborn baby. Neither she nor her baby suffered any injuries associated with the smoke she had inhaled. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still unknown.
