President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris are already hard at work and focused on a transition plan to build America back better.
Last night a Twitter handle titled “Transition 46” released a link to a website, www.buildbackbetter.com, dedicated to Biden’s transition into becoming the 46th President of The United States.
With the bold heading proclaiming “RESTORING AMERICAN LEADERSHIP,” the incoming Biden Administration highlighted a plan to get to work on improving the country on day one.
“President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris are confronting a pandemic, an economic crisis, calls for racial justice, and climate change. The team being assembled will meet these challenges on Day One,” the site read.
Focusing on the pandemic that has ravished the country, the new administration promised to listen to science, ensure public health decisions are informed by public health professionals, and promote trust, transparency, and accountability in our government.
They have introduced a 7 point plan to help beat COVID-19 that includes a national mask mandate for all Americans as well as Free COVID-19 testing and “effective, equitable distribution of treatments and vaccines.”
Biden is promising to invest $25 Billion into a “vaccine manufacturing and distribution plan that will guarantee it gets to every American, cost-free.”
Under the “Economic Recovery” portion, Biden plans to secure immediate relief for working families, small businesses, and communities by providing state, local, and tribal governments with the aid they need, so educators, firefighters, and other essential workers aren’t forced into layoffs. The plan also includes an extension of COVID crisis unemployment insurance and the offer of a comeback package for businesses and entrepreneurs.
On the “Racial Equity” front, the Biden-Harris administration’s goal is to deal with systemic racism and the growing economic inequality in our nation. “Biden will also work to build an economy where every American enjoys a fair return for their work, and an equal chance to get ahead,” the website claimed.
Specifically, the Biden-Harris administration plans on spurring public-private investment through a new small business opportunity plan, ensuring a housing plan that makes bold investments in homeownership and affordable housing for minorities and a plan to achieve equity in management, training, and higher education opportunities connected to the jobs of the future.
The new administration is also planning to work with Congress to pass police reform legislation that will include a nationwide ban on chokeholds, ending the transfer of weapons of war to police forces, and improving oversight and accountability, to create a model use of force standard.
