Shopify and PayPal have removed President Donald Trump’s accounts for violating their policies against promoting violence. Shopify removed stores related to President Trump, and PayPal deleted an account raising money for Trump supporters to travel to Washington DC.
“Shopify does not tolerate actions that incite violence,” a spokesperson said. “Based on recent events, we have determined that the actions by President Donald J. Trump violate our Acceptable Use Policy, which prohibits promotion or support of organizations, platforms or people that threaten or condone violence to further a cause.”
PayPal and Venmo have the same policies and deleted the account, ‘Joy In Liberty,’ that raises money for Trump supporters.
“PayPal carefully reviews accounts to ensure our services are used in line with our long-standing policy,” PayPal said. “We do not allow PayPal services to be used to promote hate, violence, or other forms of intolerance.”
