Prince was reportedly not a fan of singers Ed Sheeran and Katy Perry.
In a new memoir of the late singer-songwriter, it is revealed that Perry and Sheeran’s musical styles just weren’t his cup of tea. The newly discovered notes were found amongst handwritten lyrics and photos inside Prince’s Minnesota home after his death in 2016. According to the Guardian’s Weekend Magazine, the singer expressed his discomfort with their music. “We need to tell them that they keep trying to ram Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran down our throats, and we don’t like it no matter how many times they play it,’ he wrote.
Prince’s estate found the letters as they were gathering information for a new book titled “The Beautiful Ones,” which was being managed by longtime fan, #DanPiepenbring. Piepenbring was handpicked by the legend to work on his memoir before his death. “The sheer quantity of paper was surprising. There was no real method to the madness. In one room, you’d find something from 1979, and within arm’s reach, there’d be something from 2002,” Piepenbring told the publication.
In addition to the notes, the estate also retrieved cartoons drawn by Prince, unseen photos, and diary entries, where he opens up about personal moments in his life like his first kiss and when he saw his first R-rated movie. The memoir is set to be released on October 29.
