On Sunday, at Lakewood megachurch, three abortion campaigners stripped down to their underwear and disrupted celebrity pastor Joel Osteen during his service.
Videos shared on Twitter show Osteen finishing up a prayer, and as congregants began to take their seats, one woman swiftly jumped up, removed her clothing, and exclaimed, “It’s my body, my f–king choice.”
“Overturn Roe, hell no,” yelled a second woman, followed by a third who stripped off her clothes and repeated the chants.
As security escorted the activists out of the building, congregants cheered as they wore white sports bras with green handprints and waved green bandannas, the color of the pro-choice movement.
The activists, who are members of Texas Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights, said they chose to demonstrate inside the megachurch because anti-abortion extremists had no problem rallying against women in places where they feel comfortable, such as physicians’ offices and clinics.
“Christians are not afraid to bother us at health care clinics, at doctors’ offices [where we’re] trying to get essential health care, so why the f–k wouldn’t we bother you in your own home where the laws are coming from,” said one of the women.
The activists were protesting a draft Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade that was recently leaked.
