Police say a professional golfer was fatally shot because he witnessed a crime taking place.
Eugene Siller, 46, was shot in the head on Saturday while walking on the green of the 10th hole at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, near Atlanta, the Cobb County Police Department said, per ABC News. In addition, two men were found shot dead in a white Ram 3500 pickup truck that was pulled up on the golf course.
Police believe the golfer was shot because he “happened upon a crime in progress involving the unknown suspect” and the two victims in the truck. On Tuesday, police said no one had been arrested in connection to the crimes. They stated they are following “active leads.”
The victims in the truck were 76-year-old Paul Pierson of Kansas – who owned the truck – and 46-year-old Henry Valdez of California. Authorities don’t believe the men had any connection to the country club. No motive has been identified, ABC News reports.
Police claim the suspects pose no active threat to the public but want anyone with information to contact them at 770-499-4111 or cobbpolicecrimetips@cobbcounty.org.
