The Pentagon announced a major shake-up in its press corps Friday night, replacing several mainstream media giants with smaller, pro-Trump outlets as part of a new “annual media rotation program.”
Under this plan, One America News Network (OANN) is set to take over NBC News’ long-held space in the Pentagon press room. Meanwhile, Breitbart News will replace National Public Radio (NPR), and The New York Post will be moving into the spot currently occupied by The New York Times.
These changes, scheduled to take effect on February 14th, are raising eyebrows across the media landscape.
NBC News also expressed disappointment over losing their spot in a booth they’ve occupied for decades:
“We’re disappointed by the decision to deny us access to a broadcasting booth at the Pentagon that we’ve used for many decades. Despite the significant obstacles this presents to our ability to gather and report news in the national public interest, we will continue to report with the same integrity and rigor NBC News always has.”
The announcement is expected to face resistance from members of the Pentagon press corps, many of whom view the move as part of the Trump administration’s broader strategy to disrupt traditional norms and promote pro-Trump news.
