As the public waits to learn whether or not remains found in a North Port, Florida reserve are those of Brian Laundrie, his family’s attorney said, “The probability is strong that it is Brian’s remains, but we’re going to wait for the forensic results to come in and verify that.”
Steven Bertonlino, the Laundrie family’s attorney, confirmed to CNN that Laundrie’s parents were there when authorities made the discovery.
Investigators also found a backpack and a notebook that belonged to the 23-year-old near the spot where his suspected remains were found while searching the Carlton Reserve in North Port.
“It’s quite sad, you can imagine as a parent, finding your son’s belongings alongside some remains. That’s got to be heartbreaking. And I can tell you that they are heartbroken,” Bertonlino said Wednesday night.
