Professional golfer Daniel Bowling was busted after attempting to solicit a teenage girl for sex online.
Bowling was arrested in Orlando on Thursday after contacting who he believed to be a 15-year-old girl on AdChat in early April. The man never realized that he was actually chatting with an undercover police officer posing as an adolescent.
The conversations that Bowling engaged in with the decoy turned sexual within 24 hours of him making contact. On Thursday, when he showed up to meet the young girl, he was greeted by police officers from the Special Enforcement Division who arrested him without incident.
Jennifer Wing, who is assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, said that many other predators are seeking children online and that parents should be vigilant.
“Unfortunately, there are potentially hundreds of predators like Mr. Bowling online. I hope news of today’s arrest encourages parents to be more proactive in monitoring their children’s lives online,” Wing told Spectrum News 13.
Bowling has been charged with obscene communication, traveling to meet with a minor, and attempted lewd and lascivious molestation.
