Odell Beckham Jr. has gotten off scot-free after a woman accused him of grabbing her neck inside a restaurant despite surveillance footage showing otherwise.
An unidentified woman accused the 30-year-old of choking her inside the Delilah restaurant in Los Angeles. The woman stated that she and the Baltimore Ravens wide receiver remained in the lounge after the incident. She filed a police report three days later.
However, when authorities viewed footage of the incident, they confirmed the woman’s account greatly differed from what was seen on video. In fact, prosecutors say the footage “contradicts the complaining witness’ account of events.”
The alleged victim had declared that her friend was with her and witnessed the assault. However, that individual confessed that they did not actually see Beckham attack her. The restaurant staff also confirmed that no such assault happened in their establishment.
“We were contacted about an investigation and reviewed the videos. The claim is false,” said Delilah’s owner John Terizan. He says the woman was not even standing in the area of the lounge where she claims the choking occurred.
Ultimately, prosecutors have decided there is not enough evidence to proceed with criminal charges. Beckham has maintained his innocence throughout the investigation.
Beckham can return his focus to his new contract with the Ravens, reportedly worth $260 million, with $185 guaranteed, despite still rehabbing from a torn ACL. He has not publicly addressed his legal win.
