Pusha T was on cloud nine during a sit down with Associated Press.
The ‘Daytona’ artist earned himself a coveted position being nominated for a Grammy. As everyone anxiously waits for the crowning of Best Rap Album, Pusha admitted that he’s 100% sold that his project is the rap album of the year. Being up against talents like Cardi B, Nipsey Hussle, Travis Scott, and the late Mac Miller was not a surprise to the president of GOOD Music. But apparently, not having Drake’s “Scorpion” in the running was also very much expected.
Pusha humbly admitted, “I was really impressed with the effort of the Grammy committee and how they were trying to change the way of doing things. Now when I look at the nominees, man, we got a tough category, and all of those albums are albums that I rock with.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Daytona” was perfect for the Best Rap Album category because it was a “laser direct” to the category, which is probably why he thinks “Scorpion” was better off left out. His candid explanation went into reminding that “everybody stays in their respective category,” especially since he doesn’t consider Drizzy and himself as artists in the same boat.
Regardless of Pusha’s musical opinion, Drake still managed to rack up a total of seven nominations, just one less than Kendrick Lamar.
