Quavo’s Rocket Foundation has announced a new effort to address the mental health impact of recent gun violence in Atlanta.

The organization is launching an emergency trauma therapy fund to provide immediate support to families and young people affected by the tragedies.

Over the course of a single weekend, gun violence touched the lives of 49 people in the city. Among those killed were two individuals with ties to the foundation: 18-year-old Rocket camper Deshawn Johnson and Offender Alumni Association leader Aaron “Coach Ball” Hines.

The new fund will work with local groups active in violence prevention. In partnership with HOPE Hustlers and the Offender Alumni Association, the Rocket Foundation will offer therapy from professionals trained in trauma care.

The foundation outlined the program’s mission in its statement, saying, “The Rocket Foundation is committed to providing real-time support for the mental health needs of impacted families and youth. This fund will provide trauma expert therapeutic services for children and families and support grantee organizations HOPE Hustlers and Offender Alumni, who are leading frontline community violence intervention efforts to end the cycle of violence, and offer ongoing mentorship and support in affected neighborhoods.”

The Rocket Foundation was established in 2022 to honor the memory of Takeoff, Quavo’s late bandmate in Migos. Since its creation, the foundation has worked with ten nonprofit organizations to support efforts aimed at reducing gun violence.

Those who wish to support the new trauma therapy fund can make donations through the foundation’s official site: https://www.pledge.to/rocket-foundation.
