Quavo released a new song and music video dedicated to his late nephew and fellow Migos rapper, Takeoff.
On Thursday, the 31-year-old rapper posted an Instagram clip of his latest single, “Without You.” In the emotional tribute, Quavo expresses his feelings and grief for his late nephew.
“Tears rollin’ down my eyes. Can’t tell you how many times I cried. Days ain’t the same without you. I don’t know if I’m the same without you,” Quavo raps.
He continues, “I wish I had a time machine. So you can take a ride with me. Wrap my arms around and hold you tight. So you can never say goodbye to me.”
In addition, Quavo also dropped a candid lyric video alongside the song that shows black and white footage of him inside a recording studio listening to the record.
This isn’t the first time Quavo shared a tribute to his fellow bandmate. Shortly after Takeoff’s November death, the rapper shared an emotional message with a collage of personal photos. In the letter, Quavo spoke about the bond they shared and reflected on some of their childhood dreams.
“This whole time I’ve been trying to figure out what you really are to me because nephew wasn’t it,” Quavo wrote. “We hated the word ‘nephew’ or when they said ‘Unc and Phew’ because we always knew we were way closer than that and it made me feel old too.”
He added, “Now I finally get it… you are OUR angel watching me and watching us this whole time in living form, making sure EVERYONE FELT UR LOVE AND HUGS while u here and u made our dreams come true.”
