Nearly six months after #QuincyJones divulged the juicy details of his long-lived life, Netflix has joined forces with his daughter, Rashida Jones, to bring his story to the big screen.
According to Deadline, the streaming giant has acquired “Quincy,” the documentary about the legendary composer-producer, which is directed by Rashida and Alan Hicks.
Produced by Paula DuPré Pesmen, the film chronicles the life and career of the music legend, as well as his catapult to success from a trumpeter and pianist to composer and mentor to music’s greats.

“It’s rare that somebody who has lived as much life as my dad is still interested in growing and knowing the next generation,” Rashida said of her dad. “He is such a man of action and accomplishments, but we were so lucky to spend real time with him, to let him reflect on life and the larger picture. I feel honored to be able to share that with audiences all over the world.”

It is a “rare opportunity to be able to present the definitive story of someone who has for over seven decades, not just influenced, but altered the course of culture,” said Lisa Nishimura, Netflix’s VP of Original Documentaries.
