Faith Rodgers talks abuse

R. Kelly Accuser, Faith Rodgers, Says That She Has Been Attacked Both Physically and Verbally Since “Surviving R. Kelly”

One of R. Kelly’s many accusers, Faith Rodgers, is speaking out after being verbally and even physically attacked since she came forward on the ”Surviving R. Kelly” documentary, in which she described the torment that she faced at the hands of the disgraced singer.

Rodgers spoke with “CBS This Morning” on Thursday about how life has been since she told her story.

Kelly being in custody, is “never going to stop the backlash,” Rodgers said. “If anything, it’s kind of worse since he’s in jail. It’s a whole bunch of angry fans, so it really hasn’t gotten any better. Knowing he’s in jail, that’s just knowing he’s not hurting anybody else, but people who he hurt are still being affected.”

Rodgers appeared on the first installment of “Surviving R. Kelly” and will also appear in “Surviving R. Kelly Part II: The Reckoning.” She has adamantly accused Kelly of recording their sexual encounters without her consent. More shockingly, she claims the 52-year-old knowingly giving her an STD when she was only 19. After about a year together, Rodgers left Kelly and filed a lawsuit against him.

Rodgers’ father, Pastor Charles Rodgers, appeared alongside his daughter her on “CBS This Morning.” He also expressed his fear for his daughter’s wellbeing.

“There’s been a lot of negativity. We often worry about Faith’s well-being, her safety,” he reiterated. “When she’s out trying to live her life, you know, many times she’s attacked verbally, she’s been attacked physically. It’s pretty traumatizing.”

Furthermore, Faith and her parents deny that she is looking to obtain financial gain in telling her story.

“We knew that there were some other young ladies there, there were other victims, and by Faith coming forward, that was our objective originally, just to hold him accountable,” Charles Rodgers said.

Despite the backlash, Faith says that she has no problems testifying in the trial against R. Kelly.

“If they ask me, then I’ll do my part.”

“Surviving R. Kelly Part II: The Reckoning,” premieres Thursday night on Lifetime and will feature interviews from Damon Dash, and additional victims who have come forward.
