R. Kelly is begging a Judge to silence his ex, Andrea Kelly. The embattled singer has filed legal papers against Andrea, the mother of his three children, claiming she has repeatedly violated their 2009 agreement by opening up and speaking out about their troubled relationship to the media and on the reality show “Growing Up Hip Hop.”
According to TMZ, Kelly’s team says he wants a judge to order her to not speak about anything related to their marriage. Kelly says they agreed neither would divulge “any account of their private lives, business activities, relationship with each other, marriage or circumstances surrounding the dissolution.”
The former couple married in 1996 and divorced in 2009. As of late, Andrea has come forward with details of enduring domestic abuse during the marriage. Kelly’s lawyers claim that Drea violated the agreement by talking about their marriage on the reality show and Kelly wants her to stop running to the media and dragging his name through the mud.
TMZ claims that their interview with Drea and her daughter is the catalyst for R. Kelly’s decision to file this motion.
R.Kelly’s attorney, Steven Greenberg, says, “Kelly has not made one disparaging remark about Drea publicly — and there’s plenty he could say.”
The singer’s attorney also added, “Drea has two strands of income – child support from R. Kelly and blasting him publicly.”
Drea’s legal team issued a statement in response, saying “[Kelly] can no longer control her with physical abuse so he’s resorting to methods of control and punishment that can be inflicted from afar.”
