Just hours after news surfaced of R. Kelly’s vacated judgment in his sexual abuse civil suit, the self-proclaimed Pied Piper has also cleared his name in his child support case with ex-wife, Andrea Kelly.
On Wednesday, the Chicago-bred singer took to Cook County court to hand over the remaining balance of his overdue child support, which included more than $20k a month for March, April, and May.
Although Kelly settled his back pay, in the amount of $62,000, the judge informed him that he still owes $32,000 in interest, in addition to future payments for June, July, August and on. However, according to the singer’s crisis manager, Darrell Johnson, Kelly has put his next few payments in an escrow account, as he “looks forward to clearing his name in and being cleared of all charges in the near future.”
In the meantime, Andrea has entered a new request of her ex-husband, asking he cover school expenses for their daughter Joann, better known as Buku Abi. However, Kelly’s attorney wants proof that she’s even enrolled at a University.
