R. Kelly Ordered to Pay More Than $300K in Restitution to Sex Trafficking Victims

Disgraced singer R. Kelly has been ordered to pay more than $300,000 in restitution to some of the victims of his sex trafficking and racketeering scheme.

A federal judge in New York made the ruling at a hearing Wednesday, ordering Kelly to pay $300,668.18 in restitution to a victim identified as Jane and $8,400 to another victim identified as Stephanie.

According to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, the money will compensate Jane and Stephanie for the costs of therapy and herpes treatment. A third victim, identified as Sonja, was denied restitution.

Kelly is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence after being convicted for a decadeslong scheme of grooming girls and young women and using his stardom and wealth to lure them for sex.

Earlier this month, Kelly was also found guilty on separate child pornography charges by a federal jury in Chicago.

Sentencing for that case is scheduled for February 23, 2023.
