South Florida rapper, Brisco, real name British Mitchell, will be spending a few years behind bars for committing fraud, stealing identities and selling counterfeit money.

Brisco has been in police custody since last December. Before that, in August, he led police on two chases in one day and managed to escape. He spent a few months in the wind before being taken in.

In February, the 34-year-old rapper admitted to trying to sell $150,000 worth of counterfeit cash. Several thousand dollars of which he tried to sell to an undercover cop.

In court, prosecutors played a phone call between Mitchell posing as one of his fraud victims, who happened to be a judge, and the fraud-detection department at the victim’s bank. In the phone recording, Mitchell assured the bank employee that everything was okay and convinced them to approve the fraudulent transactions. It’s unclear whether he knew the victim was a judge.

Brisco also admitted to being part of a credit card fraud ring that operated out of home improvement stores in the Broward and Miami-Dade County areas.

Brisco’s sentence was handed down on Thursday, May 31. He was given four years and three months in federal prison for his crimes.

In court, the rapper apologized for his actions.

“I’m very remorseful for what I did,” Mitchell told U.S. District Judge Beth Bloom. “I’m just trying to right my wrongs and get back to my children and get back to my music.”

He also spoke about his sons, who are 7 and 13.
