Most rappers are known for their outlandish jewelry selections. However, one has taken it a step further by implanting gold links into his scalp.
Dan Sur says that he is the first rapper in history to undergo the drastic procedure. In one of his Tik Tok videos, the Mexican artist says he wanted to “do something different” instead of just dying his hair like everyone else. He hopes that no one tries to imitate his unique look.
The 23-year-old broke down the process of implanting the jewelry in his head. He explained that he has one main hook implanted in his head that includes hooks all over it that are embedded under the skin of his scalp. He claims that he removes the chains to sleep and reapplies them at his leisure. Sur also debunked rumors that his chains were fake.
It looks like the reggaeton rapper has had his gold hair at least since June. In his music video for “Se Siente Sola,” which was released on June 14th, Sur is seen sporting the chains. That visual has attracted over 130,000 views on YouTube.
A plastic surgeon is now warning against undergoing the risky surgery as the video continues to spread across social media.
“Implants like this are not safe. They introduce an easy path for bacteria between the outside world and the internal body. In this case, the bone covering the brain. In addition, I am concerned about the amount of weight these hooks are supporting. The weight or any accidental tug on a band of gold could cause the implant to dislodge and even fracture the skull,” Dr. Frank Agullo stated. He did not perform the surgery on Sur.
