Louisiana rapper JayDaYoungan was shot outside his home on Wednesday and was later pronounced dead.

The Bogalusa Police Department confirmed that the 24-year-old rapper, who is best known for his singles “23 Island” and “Elimination,” was shot alongside who cops are describing as “a close family member” named Kenyatta Scott Sr.

The rapper, whose real name is Javorius Tykies Scott, was shot shortly before 6 o’clock and was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police reported that JayDaYoungan passed away before midnight.

The family member, however, is currently in stable condition.

“This is a very fluid situation. Our officers are working diligently to identify the subjects responsible for these crimes,” police said in a statement.

Following the shooting involving the rapper,  another shooting occurred. Officials say that there was a chance the shootings were connected.

According to his social media posts, JayDaYoungan is survived by a young son.

The rapper uploaded a video of what appeared to be his son on Instagram only hours before his terrible death.

In 2017, the rapper signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records. His biography on Pandora claims that “Spinning” and “Taking Off” helped him gain popularity.

In June 2021, he issued his debut album, “23 Is Back.” His mixtape “Forever 23″ and his debut studio album “Baby23” reached the Billboard charts.

On YouTube, he had amassed over 1.2 million subscribers and an astounding 2.7 million Instagram followers.
