Killer Mike will not face charges following his arrest at this year’s Grammys, where he had just celebrated multiple award wins. The Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office confirmed to the Daily News that the 49-year-old artist, whose real name is Michael Render, will not be criminally charged for the altercation at Crypto.com Arena during the February 4 awards show.
“Mr. Render has successfully completed the Office’s hearing process, including a community service requirement that was imposed,” a representative stated, declining further comment.
Killer Mike was detained shortly after winning the Grammy Awards for Best Rap Album (“Michael”), Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance for “Scientists & Engineers.” Footage published by The Hollywood Reporter showed him being escorted out of the arena.
Killer Mike explained the incident was due to “an overzealous security guard” and “confusion around which door my team and I should enter.”
