On Tuesday, rapper Lil Tjay was arrested while on Instagram Live after he was seen sitting on top of a moving vehicle waving around what was found to be a fake gun.
In a video posted to social media, the rapper can be heard telling New York officers not to touch him.
“No, bro. Hell no. What’s in the car? I don’t know what’s in the car,” he’s heard saying in the clip. “Don’t touch me. There’s no firearm in the car.”
A spokesperson for the NYPD confirmed to outlets that “police observed a male waving what appeared to be a black firearm from a sunroof of a moving motor vehicle” around 1st Ave. and East 23rd Street. “The male was taken into custody and an imitation pistol was recovered.”
According to his lawyer, Dawn Florio, the rapper was recording a music video when officers arrived at the scene in Manhattan and said he was arrested for reckless endangerment and not gun possession.
Back in January, the rapper was arrested for weapon possession when shooting a music video in the Bronx with Ice Spice.
