Rapper Mystikal is facing life in prison after he allegedly raped a woman at his home in July.
On Tuesday, a grand jury in Ascension Parish, Louisiana, indicted the former No Limit rapper for rape along with nine additional felony offenses.
Under state law, the rapper faces a mandatory life sentence if found guilty.
In addition to the rape charge, he was hit with false imprisonment, domestic battery by strangulation, simple robbery, heroin possession, methamphetamine possession, and illegal possession of Xanax.
The rapper is currently being held without bond at the Ascension Parish Prison.
According to his attorney, “It’s an indictment. It is meaningless. We anticipate having our day in court.”
On July 31, Mystikal was arrested on multiple felony charges after allegedly jailing, strangling, assaulting, robbing, and raping a female acquaintance at his Prairieville home over a financial dispute.
A search warrant alleges that the rapper attacked the woman after accusing her of stealing $100 from him. In search of the missing cash, she found a “crystalline substance” in his drawer.
After the rapper asked her if he could “feel” her, she denied it, and he allegedly pushed her over a bed and raped her. She left his property, then visited a hospital where a rape kit was performed.
On Aug 2, Mystikal was denied bond at his hearing, where lawyers described the alleged rape in detail.
According to reports, the rapper has been a lifetime registered sex offender since being convicted of sexual battery in 2003.
