Iconic rapper Mystikal has pleaded not guilty to rape charges from a 2016 incident in which he was accused of sexual assault.

The 46-year-old rapper who hails from Louisiana, waived an arraignment in Caddo District Court on Monday under his real name, Michael Lawrence Tyler.

No full details about the incident have been released but the incident allegedly happened outside a local Shreveport casino. TMZ reported that Tyler turned himself into police after he heard authorities had a warrant out for his arrest.

The “Shake It Fast” artist is facing first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping charges, and is being held in Caddo Correctional Center, where he’s been since Aug. 21.

Along with Tyler, two other suspects have been connected to the case and taken into custody. Police arrested Averweone Holman on Aug. 18 in Killeen, Texas and Tenichia Wafford. Holman is charged with first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping, while Wafford is charged with obstruction of justice. Both are being held at the Caddo Correctional Center.

Mystikal’s bond has been set at $3 million and KSLA reports that he’s hoping to see it be reduced after his Jan. 18 court date.
