New York rapper Pop Smoke known for his single, ‘Welcome To The Party,’ was arrested in New York City on Friday morning after being away at Paris Fashion Week.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Pop Smoke was arrested “on a federal charge of interstate transport of a stolen vehicle” at JFK airport.
The vehicle in question was a 2019 Rolls-Royce Wraith.
According to TMZ, the arrest stemmed from an incident back in November when Pop Smoke met with the vehicle owner at an L.A. recording studio to discuss letting him use the car for a video shoot.
The agreement reportedly required that Pop Smoke return the car the very next day. However, that did not happen.
The owner then became suspicious and began to track the vehicle and reported it stolen after the GPS located it in Arizona.⠀⠀
In December, the owner spotted the vehicle in one of Pop Smoke’s since-deleted Instagram posts with the location tagging his hometown New York. Now, just one month later, the rapper has been arrested and charged for the stolen car.
Pop Smoke is set to be arraigned this afternoon while Brooklyn federal prosecutors solve this case, according to TMZ.
